James Wilfred Named Director of Operations

MONROVIA – January 23, 2020: Mr. James B. Wilfred, has been appointed as Director of Operations at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL). The appointment took effect on January 20, 2020.

 

Mr. Wilfred’s appointment, according to a letter from the CBL Human Resource Management Department is “predicated on several factors, including his long years of professional and dedicated services to the Bank, his experience, and his technical competency that he has exhibited over the years.”

 

Prior to his appointment, he headed the Financial Sector Development Unit (FSDU). The Unit has coordination and oversight responsibilities to ensure the implementation of the CBL Strategic Plan 2017-2019 and the Financial Sector Development Implementation Plan (FSDIP) working with various stakeholders across government, private sector, and non-governmental organizations.  The FSDIP is a 5-year reform plan for the financial sector, coveringbanking, insurance, and payment systems and digital finance, just to name a few.

 

Mr. Wilfred holds a Master’s of Science (MSc) in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, the United States of America.

 

The incoming Director of Operations has served the Bank in several capacities including, Comptroller of the Finance Department, Director Banking, Head of Payment System, and most recently the Financial Sector Development Unit (FSDU).
