Gov. Weeks making a point during visit to CBL Payment Center in Voinjama

MONROVIA, June 5, 2017:  The Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, Mr. Milton A. Weeks, has visited central bank facilities in Lofa and Bong Counties. The visit of the Governor also included stops at the Ecobank local branch in Voinjama and the Rural Community Finance Institution (RCFI) in Zorlayea, Lofa County, where he was greeted by officials and staff of the center.

 

Welcoming the Governor, the Chairperson of the Board of the RCFI, Mr. Moses Zayzay and the Manager of the Institution, Mr. Jackson F. Worlobah, thanked the Governor for the visit. The officials said they were delighted to have the Governor visit the institution.  The Head of the Action Women for Development, Madam Annie Woyea, in brief remarks, also lauded the governor for remaining supportive of the activities of the institution.  She appealed to the Governor for assistance in acquiring an office space to better perform their duties. The Governor promised to assist the group in the acquisition of an office space once his office is provided with a breakdown of the details of the project.

 

Governor Weeks also visited the Payment Center of the Central Bank in Voinjama, Lofa County and was taken on a guided tour of the facility by the Supervisor of the Branch, Madam Mariam Teah. She thanked Governor Weeks for the visit and expressed appreciation to him for responding positively to an assessment by auditors by providing a facelift to the facility.  The Governor, who also visited the Voinjama branch of Ecobank – Liberia, thanked personnel of the institutions for their dedication to duty.  He said the CBL will continue to be supportive to facilitate their work. 

 

The Governor, also visited the CBL local Payment Center in Gbarnga, Bong County, where he was taken on a guided tour by the Supervisor of the branch, Mr. J. Weah Kanwie who briefed the Governor on the operations of the bank. The Governor, in response, spoke of the need for minor repairs on the building to give the branch the needed face-lift which reflects the image of the CBL.

 

The visit by the Governor to the CBL regional offices and other financial institutions was intended to get first-hand information of the operations of the centers.

 

Governor Weeks was accompanied on the tour by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Sylvester K. Thomas; the Deputy Head of the Financial Sector Development Unit, Mr. George Gould; the Head of Communications, Mr. Cyrus W. Badio, as well as other members of the Governor’s support staff.
